World War I veterans founded the The American Legion in 1919 to assist their fellow veterans and their families and to maintain a strong national defense.  This concept of service has been expanded over the years to include programs involving veterans' employment assistance, family, community, and patriotic values.

Membership in The American Legion is not a requirement for us to assist anyone.  However, many of the benefits that veterans enjoy have resulted from the efforts of our members over the years.

If you're interested in helping, and if you meet eligibility requirements (see below), we would be honored to have you as a member.  Contact any American Legion member or come sit in on one of our meetings.

ELIGIBILITY

Veterans must have served at least one day of active military duty during the periods indicated below, and have been honorably discharged or be still serving honorably.

  • Aug 2, 1990 - until cessation of present hostilities
  • Dec 20, 1989 - Jan 31, 1990
  • Aug 24, 1982 - Jul 31, 1984
  • Feb 28, 1961 - May 7, 1975
  • June 25, 1950 - Jan 31, 1955
  • Dec 7, 1941 - Dec 31, 1946
  • Apr 6, 1917 - Nov 11, 1918
